Senior Manager, Marketing

The primary function of this position is to implement strategic and holistic marketing plans that increase Buyer attendance, foot traffic, and sales for the brands located in CMC and positions the CMC brand to be the hub of the Los Angeles fashion industry. Develops a Buyer network of relationships in the fashion industry in consideration of our tenants in the California Market Center.


Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creates strategic plan for Marketing and Buyer Relations according to industry trends to future state projection. Provides associated function and team initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Liaises with internal and external partners on campaigns and projects and drives the strategic process to achieve strategic goals.
  • Identifies and implements marketing strategies that drive traffic and sales through an integrated approach that connects digital, print, advertising, social, events, and PR tactics.
  • Works cross-functionally with Sales teams to align marketing programs with key CMC initiatives and seasonal plans.
  • Oversees the creative process, including initiation of campaigns, definition of goals, identification of obstacles, and facilitation of ideas in a team environment. Able to make rationale choices between competing ideas diplomatically and keep team focused on achievement of goals.
  • Communicates marketing plans and results to management and internal partners on a regular basis.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key tenants and stake holders in the industry.
  • Analyzes competitive landscape for marketing opportunities
  • Drives Marketing’s operational excellence and organizational health through identification and execution of opportunity areas, removing obstacles, and creating improved processes and approaches to the business

Digital Marketing

  • Manages digital media planning & buying. Manages and optimizes key revenue driving activities, including digital advertising, search engine marketing, and retargeting programs.
  • Works with the Marketing team to recommend and execute new forms of marketing including affiliate, display, and social media as needed.

Metrics & Measurement

  • Identifies Retail Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including CMC website’s search ranking position and customer retention to determine which KPIs indicate increase of customers and decrease in expenses.
  • Leads and mentors other Mangers and Associate Manager on use of reporting tools, approaches, and how to reach clear, actionable recommendations. Sets goals and expectations for the Marketing and Buyer Relations teams for product data reports and actionable recommendations supported by data.
  • Monitors KPIs and correlates expectations to results.
  • Able to support marketing campaign effectiveness with data analysis.


  • Department Management
    • Manages and mentors the Marketing and Buyer Relations team
    • Reviews time sheets and manage time-off request
    • Develops multi-year staff developmental plan for management’s review, set objectives for teams and individuals annually
    • Conducts performance evaluations
  • Accounting
    • Tracks expenses and assists in complete financial reconciliation
    • Provides oversight / approval of invoices
    • Develops multi-year budget within the guidelines provided by Brookfield. Keeps management apprised of any significant expense variances or concerns.
    • Ensures department budget is managed day-to-day including planning and invoicing processing.

Team Building

  • Partners with the Talent and Organization team to manage Marketing employee resourcing, including full-time/contractor recruiting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Works closely with sales and operational teams to ensure coordination and alignment of goals while minimizing conflict to drive overall growth.
  • Works closely with web developers to explain goals and prioritize projects that will deliver revenue targets.
  • Acts as a subject-matter expert in the Marketing and Buyer Relationship arena bringing ideas, energy, and structure.
  • Supports sales team by providing thought leadership and training on e-commerce best practices.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams across product management, communications, finance, sales, operations, and leadership.


  • A BA/BS degree in a related field of study such as Marketing, Fashion Design, Communications or Business.
  • 10+ years’ work experience in the fashion industry with a track record of advancement.
  • Prior experience consulting on high-level strategic initiatives and informing how to manage toward that strategy effectively. Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong background in developing creatively driven brand-marketing campaigns, a unique passion for problem-solving and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Understanding of how to manage and evolve a highly visible consumer brand through marketing.
  • Disciplined, result oriented, consistent and well organized. Maintains and fosters strong relationships with internal and external clients. 
  • Establishes and maintains positive work relationships, volunteers’ assistance, operates with integrity, supports others, and remains open to ideas. 
  • Experience marketing for business-to-business commerce.
  • Strong background in e-commerce, digital marketing, and data analytics. Ability to interpret consumer and market-related data.
  • Superior knowledge of the fashion wholesale and retail landscape nation-wide with targeted knowledge of the Los Angeles market.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to lead and motivate internal team members and external parties.
  • Must be able to work consistently as scheduled on site at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles.
